It was a lovely show this morning, and we received some lovely feedback.
Be sure to book your tickets and join us in Sockland.
Come to think of it, that sums up the lads when they’re on-stage too.
Here’s young Robin ‘Spike’ Queree on the tele-phone before the show last Saturday.
Who’s he calling? Could it be You?
Come and join in the general melee of silliness at this Saturday’s dinner/show at the Metropole in Katoomba for Yulefest; it’ll be a night you’ll have to phone home about.
…and we’re pleased to note that a few of them turn up at our shows. At last Saturday’s Yulefest Dinner and Show, we had a room full of them.
One of their number was Gary from Rozelle, who sent us this wonderful note, which we’ve pasted here in full;
My Dad is a Goon Show nut and introduced me and my ears to the show at a very young age. When I heard there was a live version, I had to go and see it.
I can’t wait to tell my Dad, back in the old country, about it he (and his ears) will be extremely jealous.
The show was great! Three (and a bit) Goon Shows performed by a group of very impressive soundalike actor-type performers who were obviously enjoying it as much as I was.
The musical interludes featured a very impressive guitarist/vocalist who ably filled the spots of the indisposed Max Geldray and Ray Ellington. The performances were fitted between the courses of the meal we were having, which worked quite well.
It was a great evening – well worth the trip and the money and I’d recommend it to all comedy fans. After all, this is where it all began!
Waits for next show to go to…
We couldn’t put it any better Gary – and thanks our steaming friend, we’d love to see you at another one of our shows.
Last Saturday night was no exception, with several ‘Goon-type-virgins’ coming along to our Yulefest 2017 Dinner and Show.
Here’s one of them, Melissa, explaining what she thought of the show;
We’re pretty chuffed… and given that there are only 4 shows left of our July season, we can’t wait to convert a few more Goon Fans.
Katrina came to last night’s Dinner & Show for Yulefest Blue Mountains. Here’s a YouTube clip of what she thought about the evening’s proceedings…
Our head is in the clouds with wonderful review from Jeff, after last Saturday’s show.
Here is the YouTube clip on our channel…
Come along to our next dinner and show this Saturday 8th July at The Metropole, Katoomba.
Last night’s opening dinner and show for Yulefest Blue Mountains was an excellent evening.
The ambiance, food, the show, the special guests, the audience… it all worked beautifully.
Here’s a short YouTube-clip of Ian, one of the audience-members who attended last night’s gig; listen to what he had to say about the proceedings.
The next show is on Saturday 8th July; be sure to grab your tickets.
This Saturday 1st July marks the first show of our Yulefest Blue Mountains dinner and show.
If you’re into British Comedy, then get a group together and get your tickets booked now. Opening night (Sat 1st July) only has 9 tickets left – and all the other dates are close behind.
This year marks our 6th, yes SIXTH Yulefest season – for some reason they keep on asking us to come back!
After the super WinterMagic Festival in Katoomba yesterday, the whole region is now pumped up for the biggest season on the Blue Mountains calendar – Yulefest, our very own Winter Christmas-in-July.
This year, as part of our show, we’re bringing back the Bucket of GOON.
What happens is that we ask an audience member to draw a mystery Goon Show episode out of a bucket for the boys to perform.
Once the lads get over the initial leg-trembles, they have only 5 minutes to scramble – sort out their scripts and load-up the sound effects.
We first gave this a whirl in 2015 at a season of shows we played in Sydney… it worked brilliantly, and the added adrenaline spiced up the show for cast and audience alike.
Tickets have been selling extremely well this year, so get in on the fun and book now. We’d love to see you there.
Our British Comedy Yulefest Dinner and Show is just around the corner… it opens this Saturday 1st July at the Metropole Katoomba, and runs throughout the month.
This is our 6th Yulefest season, for some reason they keep on asking us back!
Opening night on the 1st has only a handful of tickets left – and there aren’t many more available for rest of the dates – so if you are part of a British Comedy fan-club, best grab the rest of the mob and book those tickets.
As a very special treat for Yulefest Blue Mountains 2017, Goon Show fans are to be entertained by the episode ‘Christmas Crackers‘ which was written by Spike Milligan for inclusion in BBC Radio’s Christmas Day broadcast of 1953.
The casts of several then current comedy series performed short sketches on the subject of Christmas in general and Christmas Crackers in particular.
This sketch performed by the Goons was recorded at the same time as The Giant Bombardon (series 4, ep. 13), on Sunday 20 December of that year.
As far as it can be ascertained, this Goons sketch was never rebroadcast and are no known recordings of it.
The original script still exists, and is part of the Sir. Elton John Collection. Elton John bought the original scripts at auction in 1981 for £14,000. With Sir Elton’s permission, The Goon Show Preservation Society was able to scan this important Goons document.
Have you seen our visually challenged rodents yet? There are only 3 MOUSEterChef shows left; tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.
Audience feedback for MOUSEterChef has been amazing… here are some of the great things people have said about our show when we asked them what their child (or children) liked most about the show…
“The engagement with the audience and costume changes seemed to get the most giggles out of my little one.” – Katie from Katoomba;
and Sonny, also from Katoomba wrote, “The silliness and the sing along nursery rhymes”.
Come and find out for yourself…
